This is the final pencil art for the Swanmay, or as I now call her, the Red Swan. I was torn about that. "Swanmay" has a solid fantasy feel to it, and is a pretty sounding word besides. But that's been her "working title" all along. I didn't want to be hidebound by the D&D Swanmay, I didn't want to always have to explain this character in terms of how she is different from that. I wanted her to be herself, by herself, of herself. I wanted her name to feel more epic, more iconic. So, the Red Swan.
She is in her place here. Her home, if she can truly be said to have one. A heath on a forgotten hill in rough and deserted country. Travellers from our world in theirs might be reminded of Glencoe, Scotland, or the Isle of Skye.

Really fabulous.
I thought her whole outfit was white? But she's the Red Swan?
But either way, the whole concept of the Red Swan and costume and surroundings is FABulous, especially for an elegant mystical warrior woman. ^^

"I'm half-sick of shadows," she said.
in the final design, does she ever hold her sword? or does it always float by her?
